our hotel in Leiden, birthplace of Rembrandt and
the home of Holland´s oldest university (1575). You
may want to rest up for the upcoming evening or
explore the city prior to having dinner in one the
local restaurants before departing for Amsterdam.
We arrive in Amsterdam just about the time the real
celebrating begins. Bring in the New Year with the
locals on one of the city´s popular squares (Dam
Square, Leidseplein) and then seek out a cozy
bar and have one or two Dutch beers and maybe
a Jenever (traditional Dutch drink). Later, you may
choose to ride back to the hotel with our bus or
you may want to celebrate a while longer and take
the train back to Leiden later on the morning. (Train
departs once every hour from the Central Station,
ca. € 8, appr. 35 minute ride)..

DAY 2:
HAPPY NEW YEAR !! Sleep in, have a late breakfast (incl) and then join
us on an optional tour (€ 10 per person) which takes us to
one of the two remaining Delft Porcelain Makers where you
can buy at factory prices. Then we´re off to the North Sea
Resort of Scheveningen where you can dip your toes in
the cold North Sea and pick up a few shells to add to your
collection. Have lunch at one of the many restaurants which
look out to sea and then do some shopping in the Palace
Promenade Mall (the Mall is open on New Year´s Day). In
the afternoon we return to our hotel to pick up those of the
group who were not along on the optional tour and drive to
Amsterdam for a city tour (incl) followed by dinner (not incl).
After dinner we return to our hotel in Leiden.

DAY 3:
After breakfast (incl) we check out of our hotel
and set out again for Amsterdam. You will have
the opportunity to take the canal boat cruises
which takes you along some of Amsterdam´s
canals, thus opening a view of parts of the city
which are not accessible by bus. Afterwards there
is some free time for exploring, shopping, or a
visit to the Anne Frank House. Early afternoon
departure, late evening arrival in Germany.
