Itinerary (subject to change)
Day 1:
Departure from Böblingen, Panzerkaserne PX parking lot 5:30 am; Heidelberg PHV, Park and Ride (near new commissary) 7:00 am; Wiesbaden Hainerberg, PX (bus stop) 7:00 am; Kaiserslautern, Daennerplatz P&R parking lot (next to Kleber Kaserne) 8:00 am. Lunch en route (not included). In the afternoon we arrive in Giverny. Here we visit the house where the famous impressionist Claude Monet spent most of his lifetime. We visit the beautiful gardens with their superb array of flowers and the immortalized lily-pond, followed by the American Terra Museum, a tribute to Monet and to American Impressionists (entrance fee not included). Then we continue to Caen, where we check in at our hotel. The evening is free for own activities.
Day 2:
After buffet breakfast in the hotel (included), we depart for St. Mere Eglise where we visit the Musee Des Troupes Aeroportees (the Airborne troop museum, entry extra). On our journey we stop at the Liberty Milestone of Utah Beach. Then we depart for Omaha Beach. We travel to Pointe du Hoc where the Rangers made their dramatic landing. Then we visit the American Cemetery at Colleville sur Mer. Then we drive to Arromanches to see the remains of the artificial port. In the evening we stop in the lovely village of Courseulles sur Mer, where we have a typical seafood dinner in one of the cozy restaurants (not included). Evening arrival at the hotel.
Day 3:
After buffet breakfast (included) we depart for Benouville to see the Pegasus Bridge, where British air-troops landed. And then enjoy our excursion to Le Mont Saint Michel. After a short orientation tour to check out this wonderful little town we visit the old Abbey (entrance fee to the abbey not included). In the afternoon we drive to Bayeux to see the famous Tapestry, which illustrates the story of William the Conqueror, the man who led the Norman army in 1066*. After returning to our hotel in the early evening, free time for dinner. Your tour guide will make suggestions. *entry extra
Day 4:
After breakfast (included), we depart for Paris. After a short sightseeing tour we’ll stop for lunch, before we drive back to Germany. Early Dinner stop en route in France. Late evening arrival at points of origin.
