Icelandair Frankfurt - Keflavik 13.05 - 15.40 o'clock / Keflavik – Frankfurt 07.25 – 12.00 o'clock
DAY 1:
The island in the far north is known for its magnificent landscapes - shaped by active volcanoes, mighty glaciers, geysers and imposing waterfalls. Your location for the next few days is Reykjavik, the Icelandic capital - by the way, the northernmost capital in the world. Here you will find an exciting mix of small, colorful houses and modern buildings, such as the Harpa conference and concert center or the Perlan water reservoir. This has six huge tanks and an imposing glass dome in which there are two restaurants and a viewing platform. The city also offers numerous pubs and cafes, museums, theaters, chic bars and many good restaurants. Your guide will make suggestions.
DAY 2:
In the morning you will get to know Reykjavik on a city tour. You will see, among other things, the Hoefdi-Haus, a wooden villa in which a summit meeting between Reagan and Gorbachev took place in 1986, the fishing port and Hallgrim's Church with its unusual facade. We will end the city tour at the Northern Lights exhibition: Here you can find out interesting facts about this magnificent natural spectacle (entrance and guided tour included). The afternoon is free for shopping. Our hotel is perfectly located at the end of the main shopping street in Reykjavik. In the evening you can experience the natural spectacle of the northern lights on a Northern Lights bus trip - with a bit of luck. There are numerous legends about this spectacular natural phenomenon and 2000 years ago they were thought to be symbols of gods and spirits. And even today, although you know how they are created, you can hardly avoid their almost magical effect. Far from the bright lights of the city, the chance to admire the aurora borealis is very good in February.
DAY 3:
After breakfast be prepared for an Arctic adventure. The "Golden Circle" tour combines the culture, nature and geology of Iceland. Walk in the footsteps of history in Thingvellir: Here already 930 AD. legislative assemblies take place, therefore Thingvellir is considered one of the oldest parliaments in the world. Here is also the gorge where the American and Eurasian tectonic plates drift apart; well-known film scenes were also filmed here. The area is protected as a national park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then you visit the famous "Geysir" and the somewhat smaller "Strokkur", which lets its water shoot up to 35m several times an hour. Another highlight is the Gullfoss: Perhaps the most beautiful waterfall in Iceland falls in two steps into an imposing gorge. After returning to Reykjavik in the evening, we will enjoy a wonderful 3 - course dinner in a Steakhouse. A perfect ending of a perfect day (included).
DAY 4:
During an excursion you will first see the manor Bessastadir, which is now the official residence of the Icelandic President. In the adjoining church you can admire the pretty stained glass windows. Then it goes on to the Reykjanes peninsula: numerous volcanic craters, caves, geothermal areas and lava fields shape the fascinating landscape. In the late afternoon we depart for an authentic Icelandic bathing ritual at the new Sky Lagoon. Immerse yourself in the warm embrace of water, steam and the fabled night sky of the arctic winter (included).
DAY 5:
Today it is time to say goodbye to the island of fire and ice. Early morning transfer to the airport in Keflavik and flight back to Germany. Arrival in Frankfurt at noon.
